Using a custom report as your Dashboard

From the September release onward, you can select an existing custom report and use it as your Snoobi Analytics Dashboard. This enables you to open Snoobi Analytics with the metrics and report view that matter most to you.

Why this is an important improvement

The Dashboard is the first view you see after signing in to Snoobi Analytics. It is also available at any time by selecting Dashboard in the left-hand menu. Until now, you could only choose from a set of standard Dashboards. The new option lets you make a report that was created from several analytics panels as the starting point of your analysis.

This is especially useful when you spent time in several panels to get the information tou need.
Instead of opening several panels or locating a custom report after every login, you can begin with one relevant overview.

  • Save time by opening directly on the report you use most often.
  • Keep attention on the website metrics that interest you most.
  • Create a more consistent starting point for recurring reviews and reporting.
  • Reduce unnecessary navigation, particularly if you work mainly from one custom view.

Before you begin

The custom report must already exist in your Snoobi Analytics account. If you still need to create it, first assemble and save the report with the panels and metrics you want to see when you open the Dashboard.

Tip: Choose a report that gives a useful overview at a glance. A focused report with only relevant panels is usually more effective as a Dashboard than a very long report containing every available metric.

Set a custom report as your Dashboard

1.  Open Custom Reports

In the left-hand navigation, go to Custom Reports and open the report you want to use as your Dashboard.

2.  Mark the report for Dashboard use

At the top of the report, open Report Actions and select Use as Dashboard item.

3.  Confirm the selection

Return to the list of custom reports. A checkmark in the As Dashboard column identifies the report that has been made available as the custom Dashboard.

4.  Select the custom Dashboard type

In the header, open the Dashboard type drop-down menu and select Custom Report.

Result: The selected report now appears when you sign in to your Snoobi Analytics account and whenever you select Dashboard from the left-hand menu.

Changing the Dashboard later

To use a different custom report, open that report and repeat the steps above. Then confirm that Custom Report remains selected in the Dashboard type menu.

If the selected report is removed

If the custom report used as your Dashboard is deleted, Snoobi Analytics automatically returns the Dashboard to the standard 7-day General Analytics Dashboard. This ensures that a working Dashboard remains available.

In summary

A custom Dashboard turns a frequently used report into your default analytics workspace. It provides faster access to the information you consider most important, while the standard Snoobi Dashboards remain available through the Dashboard type menu.
