The Google Ads Landing Page panel in Snoobi Analytics
Important differences
There are differences between a standard Snoobi panel with metrics and the Google Ads Landing Page panel.
- Time period. Note that metrics in this Google Ads panel may not show realtime data as you may expect from Snoobi, as Google Ads usually refreshes data only once/ day and may be a day later. So be careful when you select a recent period in Snoobi and interpret the data in your Google Ads Landing Page panel. Also Time comparison may not work as you expect and show 0% or NaN for Not Available.
- Url's in Snoobi Analytics and Google Ads Landing Page panel are identical, so you can review the Snoobi data in Content | Landing pages in addition.
- You cannot select a time period (such as the hourly view), as that data is not available from Google Ads.
- It is not possible to create a diagram based on the Google Ads data, or select individual metrics for a custom report, as that data is not directly available from Google.
Including the Google Ads panel in a custom report
As with any Snoobi Analytics panel, it is possible to include the Google Ads landing page panel in a custom report by using the Actions | Add this panel to custom report menu option.
It is also possible to directly export the panel metrics as PDF or HTML; you can then forward this data by e-mail if you require.
When you create a custom report that includes the Google Ads panel, thesereports with the Google Ads data will be fully functional. The data in that panel is also available online for every account user with access to the custom report.
However, if they are not listed as a 'Beta Test user" these users will not have access to the live data on Google Ads in the 'Advertisement' section of the main Snoobi Analytics report.
You also need to be aware of a Google Ads restriction that data and metrics are not immediately available. So if you choose to send a daily report with data from today or yesterday, the Google Ads Landing page panel may not show any data.
Available metrics in the Google Ads panel
The following metrics are available so you can select which data to view.
However, if you do not select the first column you may encounter errors as all metrics are linked to that first column with the landing Page url.
You can filter based on include or exclude one or more Google Ads landing-url's from the Actions | Filter menu or simply by typing part of the landing-url in the search field.
- Google Ads landing
The Google Ads landing-url. Click to segment additional Snoobi metrics on this url. - Ad Group
The Ad Group of your Google Ads campaign. - Campaign
The name of your Google Ads Campaign. - Impressions
How often your ad is shown. An impression is counted each time your ad is shown. - Clicks
When someone clicks your ad, Google Ads counts that as a click. A click is counted even if the person does not reach your website. For various reasons, this number can be different from other metrics you can see in Snoobi Analytics. - CTR
CTR is the number of clicks that your ad receives divided by the number of times your ad is shown. - CPC
Cost-per-click (CPC) bidding means that you pay for each click on your ads. - Ad Interactions
Interactions: An interaction is the main user action associated with an ad format-click. - Ad Conversions
A conversion occurs when an ad click or other interaction with your ad leads directly to a behavior that's valuable. - Cost micros
Micro is 1-millionth of the fundamental currency. If your account is in EURO, then 1EURO = 10000000 (1M) micros.
Combining data
As the data source of the Google Ads and Snoobi Analytics metrics are different, it is not possible to directly combine data from two different sources.
However, if the Google Ads landing-url has the (optional) UTM-parameters, these parameters will also be captured by Snoobi Analytics for a more detailed analysis.
] Read this article on how to include UTM-parameters in your Google Ads campaigns.
You will notice a small symbol next to the landings-url in the Google Ads panel: q
Clicking on this will present you with two options for segmentation:
- Use full url in segmentation
This enables you to review all session data and other metrics in Snoobi Analytics; so if you have enabled UTM-codes in your Google Ads campaigns you can immediately view all relevant data for increased insight into your Google Ads campaigns. Please note however that a click recorded in Google Ads is not identical to a click recorded in Snoobi. For instance, someone can forward the complete Google Ads link to a friend or colleague. That would not be recorded in Google Ads but will be recorded by Snoobi Analytics. - Use clean url in segmentation
If you want to analyse and review all metrics for a page or url, then use this as this now used the url without any parameter to segment all web traffic and sessions based on the occurance of that url.
